Hiring of Convocation Gowns and Associated Costs

UNIABUJA has set specific fees for the hiring of convocation gowns based on the degree attained:

  • Doctorate Degree: NGN 10,000 (with an option for outright purchase at NGN 100,000)
  • Master’s Degree & Postgraduate Diploma: NGN 7,000
  • First Degree: NGN 5,000

Convocation Proceedings Fees

The ceremony’s proceedings also come with their own set of fees, ensuring you have a keepsake of this significant event:

  • Doctorate Degree: NGN 15,000
  • Master’s Degree & Postgraduate Diploma: NGN 12,000
  • First Degree: NGN 10,000

Certificate Collection Fees

Upon completion of your studies, collecting your certificate incurs a fee, determined by your degree:

  • Doctorate Degree: NGN 16,000
  • Master’s Degree & Postgraduate Diploma: NGN 13,500
  • First Degree: NGN 11,000
  • Certificate Holder: NGN 4,000

Total Payment Summary

Graduands are expected to make payments totalling:

  • First Degree: NGN 30,000
  • PGD/Master’s Degree: NGN 36,500
  • PhD Graduands: NGN 45,000

All payments should be made in favour of the University of Abuja at any commercial bank via the REMITA platform.

Collection and Return of Academic Gowns

  • Collection Starts: Wednesday, 14th February 2024, from 11:00 am at the various faculties.
  • Assembly Time: Graduands must assemble by 7:30 am in front of the Senate Building on the day of the convocation.
  • Gown Return Deadline: All academic gowns must be returned by 6:00 pm on Monday, 19th February 2024, to avoid a late submission surcharge of NGN 5,000.

Security Notice for the Convocation Ceremony

To ensure a smooth and secure ceremony, UNIABUJA has issued the following security notices:

  1. Luggage and Bags: These will not be permitted into the convocation arena to enhance security.
  2. Vehicle Access: Car stickers provided should be visibly placed on vehicles. This aids the university’s security personnel in directing guests to the designated parking lots.
