The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, made this known on Thursday in Abuja at the pre-convocation news conference at the main campus of the university.

He disclosed that 41 students graduated with a first-class division, 1,845 with a second-class upper division, 4,842 with a second-class lower division, a third-class degree of 1,075, and a pass degree of 50.

Na’Allah also announced other categories of graduating students to include MBBS 43, doctorate 151, masters degree, including professional Masters 742, and post-graduate diploma 383.

He explained that out of the total number of 9,172 graduating students, 6,237 were from the regular programmes, while the Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education is producing 971 and the Institute of Education also has 688.

“The total undergraduate students come to 7,896; post-graduate school, Masters, and Ph.D., we are graduating 1,276,” he stated.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the students being graduated were equipped with entrepreneurial skills not to roam the streets in the face of the acute unemployment challenge in the country or to look for government jobs. He said the students would have a great impact on the nation as creators and employers of labour.

Na’Allah, whose tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University would come to an end on June 30, 2024, expressed satisfaction with the massive transformation witnessed in the institution since his assumption of office, vowing not to relent till the last day.

“I have to say I have been privileged to lead this university for the last few years, and by the grace of God, June 30th will be my last day as Vice-Chancellor. I am going to work all my best every day, every second, and every hour until that very last time,” he said.

Professor Na’Allah, who listed recent feats achieved in the institution, including securing approval for the University of Abuja Microfinance Bank, ongoing construction of a new clinic, soon-to-commence construction of houses on campus for staff, the establishment of an innovation hub, and a creative technology centre, among others, said UniAbuja will soon launch its policy on sexual harassment.
