UNIABUJA Holds Orientation for 700 Students of IJMB and Remedial Programmes
The School of Advanced Basic and Remedial Studies at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) conducted an orientation exercise for over 700 newly admitted students into the IJMB and Remedial programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Simon Malang Kawe, urged students to remain disciplined and committed to their studies, highlighting that progression into the University’s main programmes will depend on meeting the institution’s academic standards.
Acting Director of the School, Dr. Angela Oboh, explained that the orientation was designed to familiarize students with key issues affecting their university life and ensure a smooth integration into the campus community.
The programme featured participation from staff across critical university units, providing an engaging and informative session aimed at promoting discipline, awareness, and academic excellence.
The keynote lecture, titled “The Influence of Peer Group Pressure on the Nigerian Child,” was delivered by Professor Otaki Osana Alanana of the Department of Sociology, offering students valuable insights into navigating social influences while maintaining academic focus.

The orientation underscores UNIABUJA’s commitment to student welfare, preparedness, and academic success.
