UNIABUJA Management Seeks Stronger Institutional Collaboration with University of Abuja Teaching Hospital
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, has led members of the university management on a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Professor Yunusa Thairu, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration between both bodies.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, has led members of the university management on a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Professor Yunusa Thairu, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration between both bodies.

The visit focused on expanding existing partnerships in medical training, clinical exposure, research development, and health system strengthening.
Professor Thairu, who was appointed Chief Medical Director of the hospital by the Federal Government on 6 March 2026, previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences at the University of Abuja University of Abuja.
Both chief executives noted that discussions had already commenced on deepening cooperation between the university and the teaching hospital, with emphasis on improving academic-medical integration and institutional growth outcomes.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by senior university officials, including the Acting Registrar, Mal. Sambo Mohammed; the Bursar, Madam Shiva Rae Kondoun; the Acting University Librarian, Dr. Florence Agbese; and the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Titus Ibekwe, alongside other senior members of the College.

The engagement underscores a strategic push to reinforce synergy between academic training and clinical service delivery within Nigeria’s health education ecosystem.
