UNIABUJA Welcomes NUC Accreditation Teams for Accreditation Exercise
NUC teams visit the University of Abuja for the accreditation of 14 programmes, with Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi emphasizing the institution's commitment to excellence.
As part of the ongoing November-December 2024 National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Exercise, three teams of experts visited the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, earlier today, being Tuesday 10th December, 2024.
The teams are conducting evaluations for the Common Law, Guidance and Counseling, and Chemistry programmes. Professor Maikudi warmly welcomed the delegation, applauding the NUC’s commitment to ensuring quality education in Nigerian universities.
In her address, Prof. Maikudi assured the teams of the University’s dedication to maintaining world-class standards in its programmes. "We are glad to have you here to help us put our house in order. I can assure you that there have been significant improvements since the last accreditation exercise," she stated, adding, "We would like you to point out areas that need adjustments."
Speaking on behalf of the visiting teams, Professor Gidado Maxwell of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, emphasized the goal of the periodic exercise to strengthen the university system. He assured the University of fairness, with evaluations guided by records from the previous accreditation visit.
The 2024 NUC accreditation, which began on November 25, involves 14 programmes across various faculties, including:
- Public Administration
- M.Sc. Public Administration
- Masters of Public Administration
- M.Sc. Business Administration
- Common Law
- Education Arabic Studies
- Education Islamic Religious Studies
- Education Christian Religious Studies
- Education Geography
- Education English
- Guidance and Counseling
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
- Architecture
Some programme teams have already concluded their evaluations, while the accreditation exercise will continue until December 16, 2024.
This exercise reaffirms the University's dedication to fostering academic excellence and meeting global education standards.
