UNICAL Installs Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero As The Sixth Chancellor

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) installs Alhaji Aminu Bayero who is the Emir of Kano as the sixth chancellor following his appointment by the Federal Government.

Bayero's installation took place at the University’s International Conference Center on Thursday in Calabar.

Prof. Florence Obi, the Vice Chancellor of the university during the ceremony described the Emir as a “gentleman full of humility and honour”.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, presented the instrument of Office to the 6th Chancellor. Speaking after his installation, the Emir expressed joy to witness the ceremony and appreciated Buhari for the appointment.

Also speaking, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said that the Emir has all the qualities of a leader.

The event was attended by the Pro-Chancellor of UNICAL, retired Gen. Martin Luther-Agwai and the Cross River Deputy Governor-elect, Mr Peter Odey.

Others include Hilary Bisong, Deputy Majority Leader of the Cross River House of Assembly, the Chief Whip of the Assembly, Okon Ephraim, traditional rulers, as well as staff and students of the institution.
