The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association has unanimously endorsed Professor Francisca Bassey, the acting Vice Chancellor, for confirmation as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The association's decision follows an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), which cited Professor Bassey's exceptional performance over the past five months. Notably, she has secured government support for critical reforms and driven significant progress, including attracting investments and improving staff welfare.

Some of Professor Bassey's notable achievements include:

- Securing government approval for reconstructing access roads within the university

The alumni association has urged Governor Bassey Otu, the Visitor to the university, to approve Professor Bassey's confirmation as substantive Vice Chancellor, citing her remarkable achievements in a short time. The association has also directed its representatives on the university council to lobby other council members to support Professor Bassey's candidacy and called for a transparent and fair process in selecting nominees for the Visitor's consideration.
