University of Abuja Lays Foundation Stones for Groundbreaking Projects
The University of Abuja, now known as Yakubu Gowon University, has marked a significant milestone with the laying of foundation stones for two major projects on its main campus.
Led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia Manko Lar, the university is set to establish a Centre for Sickle Cell Research and Training and an Administrative Building for the Central Laboratory Complex.
The centre aims to advance research and provide training to address sickle cell disorder, a significant health challenge in Nigeria. Professor Lar emphasized the importance of the project, highlighting its potential to bring relief to sickle cell patients and contribute to long-term solutions for the disorder.
The administrative building will support the central laboratory complex, enhancing the university's research capabilities and providing a conducive environment for scientific inquiry.
Professor Lar lauded the research fund donors for their support, expressing hope that the projects would yield meaningful solutions to sickle cell disorder. The university's commitment to excellence and innovation is evident in these initiatives, which align with its mission to become a leading citadel of knowledge .
