UNIDEL Moves to Deepen Strategic Partnership with FRSC on Training, Road Safety

The University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, has signalled its readiness to deepen its strategic partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, with a focus on capacity building, professional training, student engagement, and road safety education.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eric Eboh, made the commitment on Tuesday, July 8, 2026, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the FRSC Inspectorate Training School, Owa-Alero.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the FRSC delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the University's determination to maximise the opportunities presented by its close relationship with the Corps.
"The co-location of UNIDEL and the FRSC in the same community is a divine arrangement. We are going to establish a planning and working committee to drive this partnership and tap into areas of student collaboration that could become a model for the entire country," the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps Marshal Inspectorate Training School, MITS, Owa-Alero, Assistant Corps Marshal, ACM, Ugochukwu B. Amaechi, said the visit was informed by the strategic proximity of the FRSC Inspectorate Trainings School to the university and the need to build a stronger institutional relationship.
He disclosed that the FRSC was particularly interested in working with the University in areas of training, research, public enlightenment, and professional development. The FRSC Commandant further revealed that the Inspectorate Training School was ready to organise refresher proficiency training for drivers employed by the University.
Members of the University Management present at the meeting included the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Esther Akpojuvie; the Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; and the University Librarian, Dr. Vera Okonoko.
The FRSC delegation also comprised Corps Commander W.C. Anaba, Deputy Commandant; Corps Commander I. Chiwedu, Commander Admin; CC M.J. Ukpeh, Director of Studies; Chief Route Commander C.O. Izekor, Protocol Officer; Route Commander C. Dabara, Officer Commanding Band; Deputy Route Commander M.J. Eshemokhai, Personal Assistant to the Commandant; and Marshal Inspector I. Augustine, Motor Transport Officer/Media.
