Mathematics department at University of Lagos (UNILAG) equips  Postgraduate (PG) students with tools for further studies.

Authorities of the Department of Mathematics (DoM), Faculty of Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG) have held a special training session for postgraduate students of the Department.

The training which was organized to equip the students with requisite research tools for further studies also had the following objectives:

1. To develop skill in typing mathematics research using latex.

2. To determine how to appropriately select research supervisor/advisor.

3.  To equip the participant with some mathematical methods used in applied mathematics.

4. To introduce the participant to the use of mathematical software and programming languages.

Held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Faculty of Science Lecture Theater 026, UNILAG, the session featured resource persons who provided in-depth, hands-on training on various topics.

The Head of Department, Dr. A. A. Mogbademu, handled the topic: “Choosing a Research Supervisor/Advisor”, while Dr. H. Akewe (Associate Professor in Department) and Dr. B. I. Akinnukawe (Senior Lecturer in Department), spoke, respectively on “Hands on Latex for Scientific Research” and “Research Methodology”.

The Acting Postgraduate Coordinator of DoM, Dr. J.A. Osilagun and a Lecturer in the Mathematics Unit of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI), UNILAG, Dr. R. I.  Abdulganiy delivered papers on SPGS Results Processing/M.Phil/Ph.D. Requirements as well as Software and Programing Languages for Mathematical Research.
