UNILAG Students to Compete in Inaugural Ultimate Scrabble Showdown in Lagos
Nigeria is set to host the inaugural Ultimate Scrabble Showdown in Lagos in July 2024. The competition will feature two top-ranked Nigerian players, Doko and Nwali, who are both students at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and members of the UNILAG Scrabble Club.

The competitors, who are members of the UNILAG Scrabble Club in the NSF Inter Club Challenge and Hurricane SC in the MGI Premier League, are also the highest-ranked Nigerians according to the Pan African Scrabble Association. Doko is currently rated 11th in the world with 2030 points, while Nwali holds the 16th spot with 2012 points.
The Ultimate Scrabble Showdown is the brainchild of Nigeria's Champion of Champions, Olatunde Oduwole, a multiple National Sports Festival gold medalist and winner of the IGP Open. This competition aims to showcase the talents of Nigeria's best scrabble players and elevate the status of scrabble in the country.
