UNILAG to Host Three-Day Workshop on Wetlands and Ecological Assessment

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is gearing up to host a significant three-day workshop on the "Introduction to Wetlands and the Assessment of their Ecological Conditions and Ecosystem Services." The event is scheduled to take place from Monday, October 7 to Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the D.K. Olukoya Central Research and Reference Laboratories, Akoka.

Organized in collaboration with the Society for Wetlands Scientists, Africa, and several key partners, the workshop aims to enhance understanding of wetlands, their ecological importance, and the services they provide to the environment. The event will be hosted at the Centre for Sustainable Environment and Social Inclusion, located within UNILAG’s renowned research hub.

Dr. Joseph Onoja, Director-General of the Nigeria Conservation Foundation, will serve as the keynote speaker, bringing his wealth of knowledge and expertise in conservation and ecosystem management. The workshop is also supported by the UNILAG Student Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration, the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Environment and Social Inclusion (CoESESI), and Groundtruth Environment and Engineering Company from South Africa.

The sessions will begin at 10:00 a.m. daily, and all members of the university community, along with the general public, are warmly invited to attend.
