UNILORIN Rewards Researcher of the Year with a Car

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has recognized and rewarded its Researcher of the Year, Professor Adeyinka Tella, from the Department of Library and Information Science, with a car. Professor Tella is a member of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences at UNILORIN.
The prestigious award, which included the presentation of a car, was the highlight of the 14th edition of the university's merit awards ceremony, marking the conclusion of the 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremonies of the institution.

Professor Adeyinka Tella is currently focused on research related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, encompassing fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology. Notably, he received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Emerald Literacy Awards for his article on "Robots and Public Libraries," which was published in the Journal of the Library Hi Tech News.

Professor Tella's work explores the integration of modern technology, including robotic technology, into public and academic libraries. He highlighted that robots are now actively involved in shelving and re-shelving books, reducing the fatigue of library users, and providing entertainment. This innovation has the potential to address the issue of poor reading culture in Nigeria.

UNILORIN's merit awards also recognized other accomplished researchers, including Professor Jacob Gbadeyan of the Department of Mathematics, Professor Michael Fakomogbon of Education Technology, and Professor Esther Omosewo of Science Education. Additionally, the award ceremony acknowledged the contributions of 18 recently retired professors from the university.
