In a significant stride towards advancing scientific research, Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has successfully secured a prestigious research grant valued at $76,790.14 from the END FUND Organization based in New York, USA.

The announcement was made by the university's Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, who highlighted that the grant was awarded based on the exceptional research work of Dr. Olabanji Surakat, a lecturer in the Department of Zoology at UNIOSUN.

The grant, which forms part of the Reaching the Last Mile Field Entomology Mentorship Programme, underscores the university's commitment to cutting-edge research initiatives.

Titled "Operational Research Project – Multi-country evaluation of modified human landing collection method for collecting Simulium damnosum vectors (Nigeria)," the project will be spearheaded by Dr. Surakat. It aims to comprehensively evaluate the modified human landing collection method for gathering Simulium damnosum vectors across multiple countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Chad, and Burkina Faso.

Adesoji emphasized that the grant not only provides significant financial support to the research project but also solidifies UNIOSUN's growing reputation as a center for impactful scientific endeavors. He reiterated the university's commitment to supporting faculty members in advancing research initiatives that contribute to global knowledge and address critical issues.
