The Management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Post Graduate Diploma, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy Degree programmes in politics at the Centre for Politics (CFP).

Admission Requirements /Duration

Post Graduate Diploma in Politics Admission requirements include a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of Third Class or a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit in any discipline from a recognized Polytechnic. Relevant professional qualifications and cognate experience of at least three years will be an added advantage.

Duration of Programme

The programme provides both full-time and part-time choices. The full-time degree last 12 to 24 calendar months, while the part-time diploma takes 24 to 36 calendar months, following a modular approach.

Master of Science in Politics

ADMISSION

Applicants must have a minimum qualification of second class lower division degree in Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Public Administration, and Economics, from any recognised university. In addition, cognate professional experience of at least three years and holders of Post Graduate Diploma with 3.5 cumulative grade point on a five-point scale in these disciplines may be admitted.

Programme Duration:

The Full-time Master's degree in Politics will last between 12 and 24 calendar months. The part-time programme will last between 24 and 36 calendar

Doctor of Philosophy in Politics Candidates holding a Master of Science degree with at least a CGPA of 3.5 in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Public Administration, Sociology, or any other relevant discipline such as anthropology and Economics are eligible for the PhD programme in Politics. Relevant cognate professional experience of at least three (3) years will be an added advantage for applicants.

Programme Duration:

The full-time Programme will last at least 24 calendar months and a maximum of 48. The part- time Programme will last between 48 and 60 calendar months, utilising a modular approach.
