The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has reaffirmed that it does not charge any acceptance fee for newly admitted students, warning against misinformation circulating among freshers.
In an internal memo dated October 10, 2025, and signed by the Chief Accountant, Mr. Emeka Opara (CNA), on behalf of the Bursar, the university emphasized that the policy of not charging acceptance fees has been in effect for years.
According to the memo, all approved fees are clearly listed on the official university portal, and students are advised to always consult the portal for accurate and up-to-date payment information for their respective programmes.

The statement further cautioned new students against falling victim to cyber café operators or individuals who falsely claim that acceptance fees are required. UNIPORT described such claims as fraudulent and urged students to disregard them.
The university also reiterated that all payments must be made exclusively through the official payment gateway, REMITA, to ensure proper registration and avoid issues with enrollment.
Students seeking clarification are advised to contact the Bursary Department or the Fees Monitoring Unit, or visit the university’s official website for verified information.
