UNIPORT Schedules 47th Matriculation Ceremony for 2025/2026 Freshmen
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially announced the date and details for its 47th Matriculation Ceremony, set to formally welcome the 2025/2026 cohort of first-year students.
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has officially announced the date and details for its 47th Matriculation Ceremony, set to formally welcome the 2025/2026 cohort of first-year students.
According to a memorandum released by the Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Goodnews Ijah, on behalf of the Registrar, the ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the New Convocation Arena, University Park.

Ceremony Schedule and Protocol:
- Students must be seated by 8:30 a.m. to ensure an orderly start.
- The event will feature the traditional academic procession by members of the University Senate.
- Photography inside the Arena is strictly prohibited to maintain the solemnity of the occasion.
Student Requirements:

Matriculation Pledge:
- Students must print a copy of the Matriculation Pledge online prior to the ceremony.
- The document will be signed after taking the official Oath at the Arena and returned to the respective College Secretary or Faculty Officer.

Academic Outfits – Full-Time Students:
- Starting Thursday, 29th January 2026, full-time students can collect their academic gowns from their Faculty or College upon presentation of their school charges receipt.
- No additional payments should be made for any other document or service at the Faculty level.

Academic Outfits – Part-Time Students:
- Part-time students should contact the College Secretary at the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) to collect and return their academic outfits.

Gown Return:
- All academic gowns must be returned to the Faculty or College no later than Friday, 20th February 2026.
