University of Abuja Supports Young Researchers with ₦5.45 Million Grant

The University of Abuja has demonstrated its commitment to nurturing young researchers by awarding a total grant of ₦5,450,000 to six outstanding undergraduate researchers.

 

The grant, presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, is part of the University's Centre for Undergraduate Research (CUR) initiative. The selected researchers, who successfully defended their proposals, will conduct studies in various disciplines, including biological sciences, veterinary medicine, microbiology, medical laboratory science, and economics.

 

The research topics range from the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds to the assessment of biosafety and waste management practices in abattoirs. Other studies focus on the application of vermitechnology in solid waste management, the evaluation of phytochemicals and antidiabetic properties of curry leaves, and the use of AI and ML to model energy consumption.
