University of Ilorin Women Association Board to Hold Health Seminar

The University of Ilorin Women Association Pre-Basic and Basic School (UNIWAPBS) Board will hold a health seminar on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the University Auditorium. The seminar, set for 10:00 a.m., aims to promote health awareness and provide vital insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle within the University community.

In a statement released by the Association’s Secretary, Mrs. Kehinde Akanji, it was revealed that the event will feature presentations from renowned health experts, focusing on four critical health topics relevant to women and the broader university community.

A Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof. ‘Kunle Olawepo, will speak on “Degenerative Joint Conditions: Addressing Arthritis and Low Back Pain”, providing guidance on managing these common issues.

Dr. Bolanle Shukrat Okesina, Chief Medical Director of the Aisha Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Eyenkorin, will address “Understanding Menopause: Navigating Menopause for Women in the University Community”, offering essential advice for women approaching or experiencing menopause.

In addition, Dr. Oluwabunmi Buhari, an Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioural Sciences at UNILORIN, will deliver a lecture on “Work-Life Balance and Mental Health”, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being.

Dr. Habeeb Olufemi, a Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, will round out the seminar by discussing “Thyroid Disorders and Their Impact on Women’s Health”.

The President of UNIWAPBS, Mrs. Muibat Egbewole, invites all members of the University community, especially women, to attend the seminar. The event provides a unique opportunity for participants to gain valuable knowledge on personal health matters and engage with healthcare professionals.
