The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management recently organized an Iftar programme, marking the breaking of Ramadan fast, for members of the UNILAG Muslim Community.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) convened an Iftar (breaking of Ramadan fast) programme, extending hospitality to members of the UNILAG Muslim Community. The event, held at the Senate Lounge, first floor of the UNILAG Senate House, underscored the institution's commitment to solidarity, love, and benevolence, in line with the values espoused during the Ramadan season.

In a gesture of unity and goodwill, Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola OON, FAS, along with other members of the University Management, welcomed attendees and commended the Muslim community for their resilience and devotion throughout the Holy month. Professor Ogunsola praised their contribution to the inclusive, harmonious, and peaceful atmosphere that UNILAG has cultivated over the years.

Acknowledging the significant role of the Muslim Ummah in promoting moral values and discipline on campus, Professor Ogunsola called for continued collaboration, prayers, and support to sustain UNILAG's progress and development.

Professor Hakeem Olaniyan, Chairman of the University of Lagos Muslim Community, expressed gratitude to the university management for upholding the Iftar Tradition despite economic challenges. He emphasized the enduring spirit of cooperation among all religious faiths on campus and pledged unwavering support towards realizing the FUTURE-READY Agenda of the current management.

During the event, Chief Imam Professor Ismail Musa led a prayer session for the University management, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large. He also presented a publication on Energy Conservation to the University management for dissemination across campus.

Further remarks from distinguished members of the UNILAG Muslim Community, including Professor Alabi Soneye, Professor Ikmot Koleosho, and Professor Musa Obalola, expressed gratitude for the Management's positive engagement with the Muslim Community, as exemplified by the Iftar programme.

The highlight of the occasion saw Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola and other members of the Management joining the UNILAG Muslim Community at the food stand, where they were served their preferred meals and drinks.
