The University of Lagos (UNILAG) mourns the passing of Retired Professor Reuben Alarenge Iyagba, an esteemed former Dean and pioneer Head of the Department of Building in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. Professor Iyagba, born on January 3, 1943, transitioned on October 28, 2023.

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) deeply regrets to announce the passing of Retired Professor Reuben Alarenge Iyagba, a distinguished member of the faculty and former Dean. Professor Iyagba, born on January 3, 1943, transitioned on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

As a trailblazer, Professor R.O.A Iyagba served as the pioneer Head of the Department of Building at UNILAG. Known for his jovial personality, he impacted numerous lives through his passionate teaching, continuing to lecture even after retirement until his health could no longer sustain regular class visits.

A mentor and supervisor to many students, some of whom have risen to become Professors in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Professor Iyagba made significant contributions to the development of the Facility Management program. His notable work includes his Inaugural Lecture on the Sick Building Syndrome, delving into the critical aspect of Building Pathology.
