UNIZIK AVC, Prof. Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, Receives Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has once again been placed in the spotlight as its Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, received the Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award for 2025.

The award presentation took place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office and was conducted by the President of the Northern Youth Forum Association of Nigeria (NYAN), Comrade Godiya T. Adams Bogoro. The recognition was given in honour of Prof. Arinze-Umobi’s exceptional leadership and remarkable contributions to national development.

The ceremony was attended by notable personalities including Comrade Dauda Sambo, Organising Secretary of NYAN; Comrade Iloduba Oluchukwu Winifred, Liaison Officer for the Southeast; Barrister Philomena Okoye, immediate past Registrar of UNIZIK; and Mr. Njelita Louis, Acting Director of Public Relations, UNIZIK, among others.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Bogoro explained that the award was aimed at acknowledging individuals whose leadership qualities and commitment to public service reflect the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello. He commended Prof. Arinze-Umobi for her exemplary contributions and significant impact on academic and leadership advancement in Nigeria.

In her response, Prof. Arinze-Umobi expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to continue enhancing her service delivery through exceptional leadership and capacity building. She further assured the delegation of her unwavering dedication to humanity through the grace of God.
