UNN steps up on Campus Runs among Female Students, Bans Okada Operation on Campus

The management of the University of Nigeria Nsukka UNN had released a statement on the ban of motorcycle riders popularly know as Okada on campus. According to report made available to MySchoolNews  , The Security Department of the University have observed that some of the students, especially the females dress indecently call these Okada men on phone for the purpose of ferrying them to some unwholesome places in town for indecent nocturnal life in what is termed in contemporary modernism as, "campus runs" among female students.

The statement reads;

TOTAL BAN ON STUDENTS' PATRONAGE OF OKADA SERVICES INSIDE CAMPUS

In recent times, operations of Okada men have been on the increase within the campus environment especially at night. This unfortunate development has become too rampant requiring immediate stringent actions.

While the Security Department has been doing her best to tame this raging tide and security challenge, I have observed that some of our students, especially the females, are complicit in this ugly act. It has been established that these females, who also dress indecently call these Okada men on phone for the purpose of ferrying them to some unwholesome places in town for indecent nocturnal life in what is termed in contemporary modernism as, "campus runs"

Consequently, I am constrained to place a total ban on Okada operation in our campuses and more importantly on the attitude of students calling Okada men for services within campus.

While I encourage the Security Department to adopt improved strategies against this menace, I am compelled to send a strong warning to all students involved in promoting Okada operations in our campuses.

Henceforth, any student caught in this ugly act will be sent to the Disciplinary Board and sanctioned appropriately in line with the laws and regulations of the University of Nigeria.

Please, be advised.
