The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has announced that it will commence full enforcement of its ban on motorcycle operations across its campuses from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026.
In a statement issued by the University's Security Unit, the measure forms part of ongoing efforts by the university management to strengthen campus security, improve the monitoring of movement and maintain a safe environment for teaching, learning, research and other academic activities.
Under the directive, no motorcycle, whether privately owned or used for commercial purposes, will be permitted to operate within any of the university's campuses once enforcement begins.
The university also warned that any motorcycle found within the campuses after the commencement of the enforcement exercise will be impounded by the University Security Unit.

Members of staff, students, visitors, contractors and members of the public who use motorcycles have been advised to make alternative transport arrangements and park their motorcycles at designated locations outside the university gates before entering the campuses.
The University Security Unit appealed for the cooperation and understanding of the university community, stating that the policy is aimed at protecting the safety and welfare of staff, students and visitors.
The statement, signed by the Acting Chief Security Officer, Barrister Okey Ambrose, urged all members of the university community to comply fully with the directive.
