The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has categorically denied recent reports of a gunmen attack on its campus. Describing the information as false and malicious, the university's Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Isa, issued a press statement to set the record straight.

The statement clarified that the alleged attack took place a few kilometers away from the university campus in Dundayen Bakin Gulbi village. The management emphasized that the village is not part of the university's community, being approximately two kilometers away.

In response to the Vanguard newspaper's publication titled "Gunmen Attack Usmanu Dan Fodio University, kill one, Others Hospitalized," the university's management expressed concern over the potential fear the news might instill in the minds of the university community and the general public.

"The Management of the University would have ignored the news item for what it is; false and unfounded, but perhaps for the malicious intent of the writer who seemingly wants to feed the gullible public with fiction," the statement read.

The university reiterated that Dundayen Bakin Gulbi village does not share the same community with Usmanu Danfodiyo University, and an attack on the village cannot be considered an attack on the university.

The press release also highlighted the university's well-coordinated security measures, including a strong working relationship with security agencies in the state and an internal security network within the university. The management suggested that if there were any sensitive issues, the reporter should have contacted the university for an official position before publishing the news.
