The All Nigerian University Debate Championship (ANUDC), held at Veritas University, Abuja, showcased Nigeria’s top undergraduate debaters. The event featured a heated discussion on online gender-based violence (OGBV) and awarded University of Ilorin semi-finalists ₦200,000 and educational resources.

The annual All Nigerian University Debate Championship (ANUDC) was held at Veritas University, Abuja, bringing together the brightest undergraduate minds from federal, state, and private institutions across Nigeria. The championship, often likened to the Olympics of debates, featured a compelling discussion on the societal impacts of digital platforms and the challenges of regulating social media to address Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV).

As part of our tertiary institution training tour focused on digital safety and awareness, we actively participated in this prestigious event. The debates centered on critical issues surrounding online behavior and the role of digital platforms in shaping societal attitudes.

A highlight of the championship was the engaging debate on OGBV, which sparked significant discussions among participants and audiences alike. Four semi-finalists from the University of Ilorin emerged victorious, receiving ₦200,000 and a set of educational materials, including our comprehensive online safety toolkits. These resources will support their efforts in raising awareness about digital violence and promoting online safety within their communities.

The ANUDC not only provided a platform for intellectual exchange but also underscored the importance of addressing pressing digital safety issues in today’s interconnected world.
