Why JAMB Has Not Released 2026 UTME Original Result Slips Yet
JAMB has explained that the printing of the 2026 UTME original result slips has not yet been activated because the board is still concluding foreign examinations and preparing for the mop-up exam for affected candidates. According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the UTME is a ranking examination, so all processes must be completed before candidates’ result slips can be released. The board assured candidates that the portal will be activated soon and apologised for the delay, which has caused frustration among students preparing for admissions and post-UTME processes.
Candidates waiting to print their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) original result slips will need to exercise a little more patience, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the portal has not yet been activated.
In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the delay is connected to ongoing post-examination processes, including the conclusion of foreign examinations and preparations for the mop-up examination.
According to the board, some candidates who missed the main examination through no fault of theirs are expected to participate in the mop-up exercise before the final result slips can be made available.
JAMB noted that the UTME is not just an ordinary examination but a ranking exercise. Because of this, the original result slip contains each candidate’s ranking, meaning all pending processes must be completed before the slips are released officially.
The board assured candidates that the printing portal would be activated once all necessary adjustments had been finalized.
“As soon as the necessary adjustments are concluded, the printing portal will be activated. This will be done shortly, and candidates will be duly informed when to proceed with the printing of their result slips,” the statement said.
The examination body also apologised for the delay and appealed to candidates and stakeholders for understanding.
The delay has, however, generated concern among many candidates online, especially those preparing for post-UTME screenings, admission applications, and change of course or institution procedures. Many students fear that the wait could affect their admission timelines if the process takes longer than expected.
Despite the delay in printing the original slips, JAMB had earlier enabled candidates to check their UTME results through the SMS result-checking service linked to their registered phone numbers.
The development comes shortly after JAMB announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admissions for the 2026 academic session.
