Young Deaf Lady Defies Odds, Earns Master’s Degree with Distinction, and Gains Admission to U.S University

Despite losing her hearing at age 10, Lydia Abayia Acqua has proven that determination knows no limits!

She graduated with Distinction in Business Technology Management from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Ghana — overcoming stigma, communication barriers, and countless challenges along the way.

Now, Lydia has been admitted to Gallaudet University in the U.S. to pursue a Master’s in Linguistics — the world’s only university designed for the deaf and hard of hearing!

Her story is a powerful reminder that disability does not mean inability. Lydia’s courage and resilience continue to inspire many across Ghana and beyond.
