Zamfara State Police Command Partners with CSOs for Safer Schools
Dr Ahmad Hashim, encouraged the Police Command to double its efforts to ensure the safe return of students and pupils to their schools.
The Zamfara State Police Command has announced a partnership with the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), under the Zamfara Technical Team of Safer Schools (ZSSTT), to ensure a safer environment for teaching and learning in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, made this assurance during an advocacy visit by members of the ZSSTT to his office. He highlighted that the command has introduced strategies that have significantly reduced attacks by bandits on schools, particularly tertiary institutions across the state.
CP Dalijan noted that the reduction in attacks is due to prompt responses to reports from various quarters by the command. He stated, “Before my coming as Commissioner of Police, there were reports pertaining to bandits attacks on schools almost on a daily basis, but now it has reduced drastically.”

He welcomed the partnership with ZSSTT and assured them of the command’s readiness to respond to any bandits-related activities in the state. He added, “Our doors are widely opened 24 hours and our men always remain on their toes waiting for distress calls 7 days of a week.”
Earlier, the ZSSTT leader, Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau, represented by her deputy, Dr Ahmad Hashim, encouraged the Police Command to double its efforts to ensure the safe return of students and pupils to their schools. Dr. Hashim also supported the idea of reducing the size of security personnel attached to Very Important Personalities (VIPs) across the nation, to increase the number of police deployed to fight banditry and other criminal activities.

He expressed concern over the large number of schools that have remained closed for several years in the state due to attacks by bandits, and the large number of students and pupils expelled from schools for the same reason.
