AAPU names secretariat building after Senator Kwankwaso
The Association of African Private Universities (AAPU), has named its secretariat building after the former Governor of Kano State and Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Kwankwaso, who unveiled the edifice on Saturday, 26th August, 2023, was in the company of the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, ably represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and many other chieftains of the party.
In a remark shortly after commissioning the building, the President of AAPU, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo disclosed that the edifice was named after Kwankwaso in recognition of his incredible contribution to the development of education in Nigeria.
Prof. Gwarzo, who commended Kwankwaso for the milestone recorded in bringing about educational revolution in Kano state while as governor, said history will continue to remember him as an education ambassador and reformer.
According to him, education remains a bedrock of human capital development, which gives people the opportunity to refine their intellectual capacity so that they can contribute their quota towards the development of the nation.
While tasking all well-to-do individuals in society to replicate Kwankwaso’s ideologies of building the people through educational empowerment, Prof. Gwarzo described him as a progressive and visionary leader.
Responding, Kwankwaso expressed immense gratitude to Prof. Gwarzo for considering him worthy of naming the edifice after him.
Highlighting the role of education in the promotion of socio-economic development, Kwankwaso lauded Prof. Gwarzo for his unprecedented feat as the founder of four international universities.
He noted that the establishment of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in Kano, has not only provided job opportunities to the teeming number of unemployed persons in the state, but also provided a bustling research environment that produces innovations with valuable commercial applications.
Also speaking, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, who described Prof. Gwarzo, as an intelligent and progressive personality, thanked the leadership of AAPU for honoring the national leader of their party.
The governor expressed commitment to working in collaboration with Prof. Gwarzo in order to promote human capital development in the state.
He pledged that his government would continue with the educational policies of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso so as to give the less privileged the opportunity to pursue their career in education.
Earlier in his welcome address, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr thanked Kwankwaso and his entourage for accepting the invitation despite his busy schedules.
In his votes of thanks, the Secretary – General of AAPU, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna took time to cite instances where Kwankwaso proved himself as a selfless politician who has passion in the promotion of public good.
Prof. Sadiq also lauded Prof. Gwarzo for his thoughtfulness to name the building after a selfless and visionary leader.
Prominent personalities that accompanied Kwankwaso were the NNPP National Chairman, Alhaji Abba Kawu, and the National Welfare Officer of the party, Alhaji Alkasim Almustapha among other party’s bigwigs.
