The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has charged students on good character, urging them to be good ambassadors of the institution at all times.

The vice-chancellor gave the charge during the  2023/2024 matriculation ceremony of the University held at the University's sports ground, Permanent Site Campus.

Abdul Rahman, who appealed to the students to be determined, diligent and resilient in the pursuance of their academic endeavours, said: “In this university, we have zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and we do not hesitate to saction unpleasant behaviours."

He described matriculation exercise as the climax of activities designed to introduce fresh students to the system and ensure that they derive the greatest benefits from the resources available to the University.

He urged them to eschew evil activities and shun all associations and groups that could bring them on collision path with the University.

“The university does not permit the activities of any anti-social groups operating on the campus," he said, warning: "Membership of cult groups is prohibited and offenders will be summarily expelled."

He assured students of adequate security on the two campuses of the University, urging them to report any suspicious activities to security and other relevant authorities.

He called on parents and guardians to partner with the University to achieve the mission, vision and the core values of the University.

Many people from within and outside the University attended the ceremony including deputy vice-chancellors Aleruchi and Dakyes.

Others included the registrar, Abdu, Bursar, Wilson, deans, directors, heads of departments, staff and students.
