Ekeoma attributed these financial woes to what he described as compromised leadership during the previous administration, particularly highlighting the appointment of a retired civil servant as the NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress) Chairman for an unprecedented eight-year term. This, according to Ekeoma, resulted in a situation where workers' concerns were suppressed while financial mismanagement continued unabated.
