Abia State to Train 10,000 Women in IT Skills
Abia State Government aims to empower 10,000 women with IT skills.
In a groundbreaking move, the Abia State Government has announced plans to train 10,000 women in Information Technology (IT) skills, part of an initiative to promote capacity building and business support in the state. The program, led by Governor Alex Otti, is in partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre, the Office of the First Lady, and the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, revealed that the training will encompass a broad range of IT-related skills, catering to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and independent IT professionals. During a press briefing, Kanu noted that the program aims to equip women with the technical skills necessary for career advancement and entrepreneurial ventures.
"The calls for applications for the program will soon commence," said Kanu. "This initiative is focused on building capacity for Abians in various areas, including SMEs, and standalone IT experts."

Additionally, Governor Otti sponsored 26 individuals for Cyber Security Certification examinations through the state Ministry of Digital Economy and SMEs, further underlining the state’s commitment to digital growth and security.
