In a shocking turn of events, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Abia State University (ABSU), Prof. Godwin Emezue, was abducted yesterday around 7 p.m. while refueling his vehicle at a fuel station. The incident occurred at a fuel station situated in Umuekwule, Amachara, within the Umuahia South Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the perpetrators, numbering more than three, launched a brazen attack on Prof. Emezue at the fuel station. The assailants forcibly dragged him into a waiting Lexus SUV, seizing the opportunity to also confiscate his wife's ATM card.

Eyewitnesses at the scene describe a swift and coordinated operation by the kidnappers, who, after accosting Prof. Emezue, quickly fled towards the Imo-Abia border, heading in the direction of the Malaysian market.

Disturbingly, Prof. Emezue's wife, who was present during the incident, provided a harrowing account of the abduction. She recounted the assailants forcefully taking her husband and speeding away, leaving her in shock and distress.
