ABU Directorate of Advancement gets new Director
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has approved the appointment of Prof M I Umar-Buratai as the new Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education.
Prof Umar-Buratai will now replace Prof Sani Abba Aliyu whose tenure will come to an end on 7th October, 2025 when the tenure of the new director will take effect.
The appointment is for an initial period of two years, subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance.
Umar-Buratai's appointment is in recognition of his exceptional skills and deep contributions to the university community.
His extensive institutional memory, profound knowledge of the University Strategic Plan, as well as his invaluable network with key alumni and government officials were critical assets for the new role assigned him.
"The expertise you have in grant writing is particularly crucial as we move forward with our mission to secure sustainable funding through strategic resource mobilisation", according to a letter appointing him.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, said in the letter that he was confident that Umar-Buratai's leadership would be instrumental in advancing the university mission and securing its financial future.
The assignment is attached with detailed terms of reference outlining the specific duties and performance metrics.
The terms of reference revolve around fundraising and resource mobilisation, alumni engagement and sustainable giving, as well as international linkages and collaboration.
The assignment also involves institutional visibility and advancement, international staff and student recruitment, as well as strategic planning and reporting.
