Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have vowed to jointly explore various areas of possible collaboration, particularly on sports development through public private partnership.

This followed a visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, to the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, in Abuja, where the two personalities discussed the enormous benefits from the collaboration.

Speaking when he led a delegation from the University on a courtesy visit to the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in Abuja on Tuesday, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the untapped potential of ABU sports and the need to explore it through collaboration.

The Vice-Chancellor stressed that with the right support and investment, the University’s sports initiative could contribute towards the development of sports talents and generate substantial income for the institution.

Prof. Bala, who expressed appreciation to the FRSC management for according him and his team members warm reception, explained that public private partnership in sports development should be explored as a means of enhancing the University’s sports landscape.

Both organisations also discussed the possibility of establishing a driver’s license centre at Ahmadu Bello University, considering the institution’s size and the recent approval for Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services (ABUCONS) Driving School.

Expressing admiration for the FRSC’s strides in modernization and technological deployment, Prof. Bala commended the organisation’s efforts in addressing contemporary challenges during the facility tour of the FRSC Headquarters.

In his response, Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu expressed gratitude for the visit and assured that the FRSC would explore the various avenues for the collaboration beyond sports.

Biu pledged to reach out to other prominent ABU alumni, who hold influential positions in government organisations, parastatals, and private sector to strengthen the bond between the University and its accomplished graduates.

Those, who accompanied the Vice-Chancellor on the visit to the FRSC Headquarters, included Director, Directorate of University Advancement and International Education, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu; Chairman, ABU Sports Development Committee, Malam Mohammed A. Sadiq; Director, ABU Sports Directorate, Dr. A. I. Danlami.

Others were Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed; Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Affairs Directorate, Mr. Ingino D. Voh; Bashir Yakubu, and Mukhtar Salihu, both members of ABU Sports Development Committee.
