ABU Tree Planting Committee Holds Symposium and Tree Planting Campaign to Commemorate World Environment Day

 Ahmadu Bello University's (ABU) Tree Planting Committee organized a symposium and tree planting campaign to commemorate the 2024 World Environment Day, themed "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience."

The event, held at the Assembly Hall, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria, featured a remark by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Prof. Raymond Bako. Prof. Bala emphasized the global environmental challenges and the need for action.

Lead Speaker Prof. E. O. Iguisi presented a paper titled "Restoring the Environment Through Resilience Building," highlighting the dangers of deforestation and the need for innovative solutions to protect the environment.

The event included a tree planting exercise, where participants planted various tree species. Religious clerics also emphasized the importance of preserving nature and the rewards attached to it in both Islam and Christianity.
