ABU Vice-Chancellor Advocates Innovative Strategies to Eradicate Examination Malpractice
The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Professor Adamu Ahmed, has called for a systemic shift in addressing examination misconduct, urging stakeholders to adopt proactive measures that prioritise ethical teaching and student mentorship.
Speaking at the opening of a one-day workshop on Teaching and Examination Ethics held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that academic integrity is fundamental to the university's global reputation. The workshop was organized by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring in collaboration with the Postgraduate College and the Committee of Deans and Directors.

Supporting this vision, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Raymond Bako, clarified that the workshop was not designed as a "trap" to catch or punish students, but as a collaborative forum to strengthen teaching processes and enhance the ultimate value of degrees awarded by the university.
The Director of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Professor Bello Mukhtar, and the Chairperson of the Committee of Deans and Directors, Professor Maryam Aminu, both lauded the university management's inclusive approach. They described the workshop as a vital platform for developing an adaptable blueprint that aligns ABU’s teaching and learning environment with international best practices.
The session concluded with a call for participants to generate actionable solutions and share innovative experiences to foster a transparent academic atmosphere.
