Rosemary Oriwoh, a graduating Nursing student at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), received three awards and a total sum of N5.5 million from the university's founder, Aare Afe Babalola, despite mourning the recent loss of her mother.

In an interview after being honored as the best student of the university at the induction of newly qualified registered nurses, Rosemary expressed both joy and sorrow. She described the day as the happiest in her life, while also acknowledging it as the saddest due to her mother's absence.

Rosemary received awards for being the best-graduating student of the Faculty of Nursing, Best in Registered Public Health Nursing, and best-behaved student, earning her N450,000. Despite the challenges she faced throughout her academic journey, Rosemary remains grateful for the support of her family, friends, and faith in God.

The legal luminary and founder of ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, reiterated his commitment to rewarding excellence, presenting N450,000 to Rosemary and N100,000 each to other distinguished students, including the four male graduates in the faculty.

Babalola emphasized the importance of encouraging scholarship and industry, highlighting ABUAD's mission to produce graduates capable of effecting positive change in society. He urged the university's alumni to fulfill their roles effectively, directing the establishment of a viable alumni association.

Dr. Farouk Abubakar, represented by director Yahaya Sumi from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), urged the inductees to explore new opportunities in the nursing profession and serve as good ambassadors.

Prof. Smaranda Olarinde, Vice-Chancellor of ABUAD, praised the faculty's achievements, including a 100% pass rate in council final qualifying examinations and midwifery examinations in 2023 and 2024, as well as a perfect score in the Public Health Professional Examination in 2024.
