Achievers University Inducts 163 Nursing Graduates at 6th Oath-Taking Ceremony

Administering the oath on behalf of the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. Alhassan Ndagi, the Council’s representative, Mrs. Oluwaseun Olanihun, urged the new nurses to uphold professional ethics, treat patients with courtesy, and maintain strict confidentiality in all interactions. She reminded them to alleviate suffering, promote health, prevent illness, and avoid actions that could endanger life, while respecting patient dignity and safeguarding personal information.
Mrs. Olanihun further encouraged the inductees to stay current in their professional knowledge, collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, and adhere strictly to the NMCN’s Standards of Practice.
In her address, the Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, congratulated the graduates for their resilience and commitment, describing their induction as “the beginning of a sacred ministry of care.” She highlighted that the University has provided world-class nursing education grounded in knowledge, skill, and compassion, emphasizing that the white uniform symbolizes purity, dedication, and selfless service. Prof. Irinoye urged them to be ambassadors of excellence and integrity in their professional journey.

The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Science, Prof. S. K. Olubiyi, announced that the faculty recently secured full accreditation from the NMCN, valid for five years. He added that the Council approved the intake of 250 students per academic set, reflecting confidence in the University’s academic standards and facilities. Prof. Olubiyi also noted that the University continues to prioritize staff development, awarding postgraduate scholarships and automatic employment opportunities to deserving faculty members.
Delivering the valedictory speech, the overall best inductee, Miss Precious Olu-Ajayi, encouraged her colleagues to embrace their roles as “custodians of health and hope,” noting that meaningful impact comes through daily compassion, authenticity, and purpose.
Special awards were presented to veteran nurses Mrs. Mabel Omotoriogun and Mrs. Basirat Ajenike Oke for their lifelong contributions to the profession. Thirteen first-class graduates were also recognized for outstanding academic performance.
Goodwill messages and professional admonitions were delivered by Mr. Felix Orobode of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Dr. Bolarinwa Oluwaseun of UGONSA, and Ondo State Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Iyabo Aliu.

The induction ceremony reaffirmed Achievers University’s position as a leading private institution in health sciences education, producing graduates who are globally competitive, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.
