The Adeyemi Federal University of Education has formally matriculated 5,141 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s growth following its elevation from College of Education to a full-fledged university.

The matriculation ceremony, held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Prof. Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre, was attended by principal officers, faculty, staff, parents, and representatives from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, congratulated the new students on their success in the UTME and their subsequent admission into various degree programmes. He described their achievement as a “vindication that education is not a scam” and emphasized the transformative power of learning in driving personal growth, socio-economic development, and national advancement.

Prof. Popoola urged the matriculants to take responsibility for their actions and to view their admission as the start of an exciting journey toward academic and personal excellence. He admonished students to abide by university rules and regulations, warning against engagement in cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, fighting, bullying, or vandalism, stressing that any breach would attract sanctions.

Highlighting the significance of the matriculation oath, Prof. Popoola described it as a legal and moral commitment, urging students to honor it as a pledge to uphold good conduct, respect university values, and serve as worthy ambassadors of both their families and the institution.

The oath of allegiance was administered by the Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, represented by Mrs. Adeyinka Tugbiyele, officially welcoming the students into the University community.

Other dignitaries present included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao; the Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units; as well as representatives from JAMB, including Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and Barr. Abdulkadir Abdulhakeem.

The event underscored AFUED’s commitment to nurturing responsible, law-abiding, and academically driven students poised to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
