The Admiralty University of Nigeria has intensified efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and innovation capacity following a strategic engagement tour to Abuja led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Bankole Ndubuisi Ogbogbo.

The high-level delegation, which included the University Bursar, Commodore E.A. Onu, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I. R. Saidu, held separate partnership meetings with key federal technology institutions as part of the university’s broader ICT and innovation expansion agenda.
Central to the engagements were discussions with the National Information Technology Development Agency and Galaxy Backbone, both regarded as critical drivers of Nigeria’s digital economy and public-sector technology infrastructure.
At NITDA, the delegation was received by the Acting Managing Director, Olawunmi Oladejo, where discussions focused on aligning the university’s academic programmes, digital research ecosystem, and innovation goals with Nigeria’s national digital economy strategy.
The team also met with the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, to explore collaborations targeted at strengthening the university’s digital architecture and expanding technology-driven learning systems.

According to university officials, the mission forms part of ongoing efforts to fully equip Admiralty University’s newly established ICT Hub with industry-standard facilities capable of supporting advanced teaching, research, and innovation.
The institution said the initiative is expected to improve access to modern hardware and software platforms, deepen public-sector research collaboration, and position students for competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven global workforce.
Speaking during the engagements, Prof. Ogbogbo stated that the university’s long-term vision is to build globally relevant leaders through technology-enabled education and innovation.
“Our objective is to create an academic environment where learning, research, and institutional systems are powered by world-class technology capable of preparing students for future realities,” he said.

The university noted that the strategic visits reinforce its commitment to expanding ICT-driven education and consolidating its position as an emerging centre for technological advancement and leadership development in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
