AE-FUNAI VC Commends Performance of Staff, Students on Exchange Programme in University of Gavle, Sweden
The Vice-Chancellor, Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Professor Sunday Oge Elom has commended the performance of the insitution’s staff and students, who benefitted from the 6- month Erasmus + exchange programme at the University of Gavle, Sweden.

The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation yesterday when he hosted the 3 staff and 6 students that returned to the University after spending 6 months in Sweden under the exchange programme.
Myschoolnews reports the Vice-Chancellor who was represented at the event by his Deputy in charge of Academic, Professor Romanus Ejiaga said it was so wonderful to have all of them back, adding that the University did not receive any negative reports during their stay especially on the part of the students, and therefore noted that the university was proud of them.
Continuing, the Vice-Chancellor said, “In serious Universities the world over, exchange programs with partner institutions is an important part of International Education. In most U.S Universities, for a student to graduate he/she must have gone on a study abroad program, or must have been engaged in one form of exchange programme or the other.”
He stressed that the experience they got, whether as a staff or student during their stay in Sweden may be different, but the one thing they have in common is that the experience is a memorable one.
“You may have experienced culture shock during your stay in Sweden. You don’t travel to the Nordic countries without experiencing culture shock. You may want to share some of the culture shocks later”, he stated.
Earlier, the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Dr. Jonny Ogunji said it was the second batch of beneficiaries, consisting of 3 staff and 6 students to travel to Sweden through the mobility partnership programme between AE-FUNAI and the University of Gavle, Sweden, adding that the exchange program is important as it gives beneficiaries a broader view on education and life in general.
He further thanked the Swedish government for keeping to their part of the bargain, noting that the University is also expecting a professor from Sweden to arrive the institutiion under the same programme .
Also speaking at the event, the Acting Dean , Faculty of Education, Dr. Francisca Ogba thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support to the Faculty, especially to the beneficiaries of the exchange programme throughout their stay in Sweden, as it shows his dedication and commitment to the growth of the University, while promising that the Faculty will not let him down.
She stressed that the exchange programme avails the staff and students the opportunity to mix, interact and compare notes with staff and students of other universities in different cultures, and come back to share their experiences.
While sharing her experiences in Sweden, Miss Nwankwo Gloria Ezinne a student of English and Literary Studies Education, said she was grateful to God and the University Management for availing her the opportunity to visit a foreign country for the first time in her life , adding that it was an experience she will never forget as she learnt a lot about time Management and so far, has been doing her best to put it into practice in her endeavours.
The students who traveled to the Scandinavian country include; Nwankwo Glory Ezinne, Department English and literary Studies Education; Nwaogwugwu Rejoice, Guidance and Counseling; Kalu Amarachi, Buisness Education; Otti Euphemia , Physical Health & Education; Alozie Chiememeka Steven , Physical & Health Education,; and Njuabe Jude Njong , Department of Economics and Development Studies.
While the staff that made the journey are; Prof Augusta Chinyere Nwajiuba, Educational Foundation; Dr. M.O Binuomote, Vocational & Technical Education, and Dr. Ijeoma Kalu Awa, Educational Foundations.
