During the 2023/2024 award presentation, Babalola highlighted his long-standing commitment to advancing research at ABUAD, noting that since 2015, he has invested over N350 million to support the publication of research in SCOPUS-indexed journals. This initiative aligns with ABUAD's mission to revolutionize Nigeria’s education system.
Afe Babalola announced a significant development for ABUAD scholars, revealing that the university’s own journal, the ABUAD/OGEES Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP), has now attained the same status as SCOPUS. This achievement eliminates the financial burden associated with SCOPUS-indexed publication fees for ABUAD researchers.

“The good news I have for you today is that you need not pay SCOPUS-indexed publication fees anymore. ABUAD/OGEES Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP) has now acquired the same status as SCOPUS. This has brought respite from the present challenges of paying for journal articles in the university, and you are therefore encouraged to publish in our own journal,” stated Aare Babalola.
Looking ahead, Babalola promised exciting rewards for future achievements. Scholars who publish at least 75 research articles will receive a brand-new car. The first runner-up, with a minimum of 60 publications, will be awarded N1 million, and the second runner-up, with at least 55 publications, will receive N750,000.
Babalola urged ABUAD scholars to continue striving for excellence in their research endeavors, assuring them of ongoing financial and moral support to maintain the university’s standing as a global leader in education and research.
