Afe Babalola Honors ABUAD Scholars with N12 Million for Outstanding Research Achievements

Chief Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), has awarded N12 million to scholars for their exceptional research outputs and publications in globally recognized journals. During the 2023/2024 edition of the award presentation, Babalola highlighted that he has spent over N350 million since 2015 to support the publication of research in Scopus-indexed journals, aligning with the institution's mission to reform Nigeria’s education system.

Babalola announced that ABUAD has developed its own journal platform, which now holds the same status as Scopus, thereby alleviating the financial burden of publication fees for the university’s scholars.

He encouraged scholars to publish in this new journal to avoid payment challenges.

Looking ahead, Babalola promised significant incentives for future scholarly achievements: a brand new car for any staff member with at least 75 publications, N1 million for the first runner-up with at least 60 publications, and N750,000 for the next with at least 55 publications.

He urged the university’s scholars to meet high standards in their research and publications, emphasizing his commitment to providing financial and moral support to maintain ABUAD’s global reputation.

“I urge you not only to publish but also to translate your research outputs into marketable products, which I am willing to fund. This is one of the reasons why I established the university, the Multi-system hospital, the industrial park, and the Agro-tourist farm,” he said. Babalola reiterated his goal to make ABUAD a world-class institution and stressed the importance of quality education, research, and community service in achieving this vision.
