AFUED VC Receives Royal Backing from Osemawe of Ondo

The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III, has pledged his full support, and that of the Ondo community, to the Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola.

The assurance was given on Monday, August 25, 2025, when the monarch received the Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers of the University during a courtesy visit to his palace at Enuowa, Ondo.

Congratulating Prof. Popoola on his appointment as the first substantive Vice-Chancellor of the newly upgraded University, Oba Kiladejo described the development as an act of God and a fulfilment of the long-held aspirations of the Ondo people. He emphasized that the community had prayed for a leader who would lay a solid foundation for the institution.

“We want the best for the University and pray for a person that will lay a good foundation. Once the foundation is strong, everything will be okay. Don’t sacrifice excellence for anything. Ondo as a whole, we are solidly behind you,” Oba Kiladejo stated.

The monarch, who also assured Prof. Popoola of the support of traditional institutions in the kingdom, urged the management to sustain the culture of excellence for which the institution is globally recognized and to work closely with both the State and Federal Governments to ensure steady development.

Responding, Prof. Popoola expressed deep appreciation to Oba Kiladejo for the royal blessing and to the people of Ondo Kingdom for their unwavering support. He assured that his administration would remain committed to building on the institution’s global reputation for quality education and excellence.
