Ahmadu Bello University Bans 'Signing-Out' and Unauthorized Celebrations on Campus

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has officially prohibited the practice of "signing-out" and other unauthorized celebrations by students, particularly graduating students, on its campus. This announcement was made in a memo from the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Bala, and signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, S.S. Babale, on 30th August 2024.
The university has reiterated its stance against these activities, which involve students writing on their clothes and engaging in unapproved celebrations within the campus premises. The administration emphasized that such actions would no longer be tolerated.
All students are required to adhere strictly to the university's rules and regulations throughout their stay on campus. The memo was copied to various university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Dean and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, all Deans of Faculties, the Chief Security Officer, and all Hall Administrators, ensuring widespread awareness of the directive.
