Ahmadu Bello University Professor Unveils Groundbreaking Speech Theory "Gbobeism"

Professor Abdullahi Ahmad of the Department of English and Literary Studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has introduced a novel linguistic theory dubbed "Gbobeism".

This innovative concept is poised to significantly contribute to the Speech Act Theory, sparking intense academic discussions among scholars.

Gbobeism builds upon the Wave Theory of Speech Acts, which posits that words are not mere utterances but forces that influence perceptions and affect behavior. The new theory emphasizes the perlocutionary effects of speech, highlighting how pronouncements can have both immediate and future consequences.
