Ahmadu Bello University’s National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) has launched intervention projects under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s livestock sector, creating jobs, and supporting income generation among youths and women.

The projects include constructing a solar-powered seed storage facility, establishing a seed processing unit, and procuring seed packaging equipment. Additional efforts cover a 20-hectare seed multiplication plot, a hay barn, and five solar-powered boreholes equipped with water points and 5,000-liter storage tanks.

The intervention follows a visit from the L-PRES National Project Coordinator last year, which identified priority areas for collaboration, including livestock breed improvement and pasture development for enhanced food security.
