AKSU Elects New Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Elevates Staff to Professorial Ranks
At its 113th Senate meeting held on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, the Senate of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) elected Prof. Iniobong Umotong as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Prof. Nkanikpo Ibok as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).

At its 113th Senate meeting held on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, the Senate of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) elected Prof. Iniobong Umotong as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Prof. Nkanikpo Ibok as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
Prof. Iniobong Umotong, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Arts, assumes the role from Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. OtoAbasi Akpan. Prof. Nkanikpo Ibok, previously Head of Obio Akpa Campus and Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, takes over from Prof. Ita Ewa-Oboho.
In addition to the DVC appointments, the Senate approved the elevation of several staff members to professorial ranks:
Professors:
- Prof. Iniobong F. Akpan – Curriculum Studies
Associate Professors:
- Dr. Kesit Kufre Nkeme – Agricultural Economics
- Dr. Nsikak Okon Abiaobo – Zoology
- Dr. Jewel E. Thomas – Physics
